Buried Adam's Cemetery, near Bonne Terre, MO
According to 1910 census, was born in 1862 and parents were born in MO; according to 1900 census both parents were born in KY
"Valentine's wife died in Hopewell, MO and he found another wife in the very young daughter of the Doggett family. Margaret Doggett objected to marrying the very old Valentine and ran away from home. It was reported that she had entered a convent in Colorado, where she was located and returned to St. Francois County, Missouri. The ancient husband soon died and Margaret married John Thomas Forshee. They lived in Hopewell, MO until after Belle was born in 1883 and John Anthony was born in 1885."
What!? Margaret was only 5 when Valentine's first wife, Jane died, but she would have been 41 and already married to John when Valentine's second wife died. Besides, Valentine himself died in 1894. The author must be mistaken on the individual or the story!!!!
Because theeeeen, she also says, "Margaret Doggett was born in St. Francois County, MO in 1848 to William and Nancy Doggett. William born in Missouri in 1809 and Nancy in North Carolina in 1814. William Doggett, the son of Margaret Doggett who was born in Virginia in 1764." Possibly another mistake, since her obit says Tom and Martha Doggett.... unless either name is a middle name... Thomas William or William Thomas and Margaret Nancy or Nancy Margaret... hmmmm...
